Indian Sandstone (Indian Stone Paving)

What is Indian Stone Paving?

Also known as Indian Sandstone, Indian stone paving is a phenomenally versatile stone that offers prices ranging from budget-friendly to high premium. Indian Sandstone is available in lovely, warm tones that suit more traditional properties and gardens as well as darker tones for a more contemporary look. You may have heard of these slabs being referred to as ‘riven paving slabs’ thanks to their wide range of colours and distinct finishes. It is a durable, weather-resistant stone that is perfect for paving.

Indian sandstone is a perfect alternative to natural stone, after all it is a natural stone too. It is also:

  • Widely available

  • Easy to work with in terms of cutting and laying, reducing labour time

  • Immensely durable and able to withstand all seasons

  • Relatively easy to clean

  • Lasts a lifetime, adding value to your home

Porcelain Paving

Porcelain paving comprises of a mix of sand and a blend of other minerals, mixed then baked in a high-temperature kiln. This process makes for a highly popular material for paving thanks to some of the following characteristics:

  • Highly durable – in fact one of the toughest patio options available. Built to withstand high-traffic areas as it’s resistant to pretty heavy use.

  • Moisture resistant – reduced porousness, so moisture finds it very hard to seep through. This gives it a non-slip surface, perfect for damp conditions or poolside.

  • Stain resistant and requiring of very low maintenance, porcelain paving retains its colour and vibrancy for many years.

  • Fire-resistant. If you are an ardent BBQ lover you can rest assured that porcelain paving won’t catch fire!
